The World In Our Eyes Poem by Justin Gildow

The World In Our Eyes

Looking all around us
The city in the distance
The houses on the hill
Boats and ships on the bay
Clearing out of the harbor

Sitting on a blanket in the grass
We talk about our lives
Life in America
Our love
And many other nuances and subjects
Right now
We're looking at the world in our eyes
We're looking at the world through our eyes

Are we happy
Are we blessed
I'd like to think we are
But there's many things I'm not so sure of
Or what to make of
I don't know many answers to a lot of
questions
And neither do you

The flowers that grow are something special
They seem to know so much
Yet many people out there seem to take them
for granted
They know that it takes them to help us survive
To keep us alive

Looking out
Over a distance
We continue to look at the world in our eyes

We know the friendly skies
They're on our side
Very much so
We're grateful for that
