The World Is Split Poem by Peter Mamara

The World Is Split

by M. Eminescu (1850-1889)

The world is split, into the ones who seek
— And the ones who know.
The courage lives into the first group.
The others weigh what happened, and they write it down.
When the first group put together the time's coat,
The others gather the time's crust.
The first group create a tricky situation.
The others, hand it in for evaluation.

But between them there is a sense of balance.
What the first group does, the others take notice.
Since Your Book has many sacred proverbs,
That up until now survived at these two groups.
It seems that the worm of doubt did not enter their minds.
Naive is their eye when it sees.
They pursue sin, and then they seek repentance.
Since the mankind still believes in You.

Now, let's ask you, spirit of perdition:
To show me a man with Earth origin
Who, had put to test his desires.
So he could give you a good reason for what he does.
Since good man and bad man live by your principles.
Your word is their way.
They feel shame of their trespasses
Since you are every person's aim.

Virtue is no longer a merit.
As there is no merit without fight.
They don't toughen their stand against You,
But keep their life on the line, with broken minds.
They believe in being for years in the school's dust.
They didn't understand
That they fill their minds with deviations
Inspired from old books, eaten by moths.

They can't understand Your glory.
The miracles are everything for them.
They know nothing without looking within.
And they can't do anything.
Since the thinking process of a wise mind
Does not necessarily make sense.
They hit with their hands on their chests
Because to the total desire of the heart.
