The Yearling Sales Are Over Poem by Paul Reed

The Yearling Sales Are Over

Rating: 5.0

Silent, the parade ring
Vacant, each stable and stall
Away, the steady string
No more heard, the bidder's call;

Empty, the ringside seats
Gone, the excited clamour
Slowed, the fast heartbeats
Fallen, the wooden hammer.

Empty, the ringside seats Gone, the excited clamour.... //.... Whatever be the country, whatever be the event or a fixture, it is the same story. So much so that the Olympics 2020 had to be postponed indefinitely. Lock down is ubiquitous. Even if it is lifted, life is not going to be the same for quite some time. Thanks for this lovely but sad poem.
