The Youths In Limbo Poem by Dammy Lorlah

The Youths In Limbo

Going round and round
Voices cracking, heads banging
Emotions failing, drained and tired, we are wailing
Yet, they can't hear us

Pressure from family and friends
Even when they see us at our lowest
We are at the age to enjoy
They should give us that joy
Instead, youths are dying
Yet, they can't hear us

They compare us with mates
Without thinking about the ones that are late
Family wants us to be succesful
Friends pressure us to do what they do
We pressure ourselves to think of what we can do
Yet, they can't hear us

Everyone tries to be there but they can't understand
Even when we are depressed and dying inside
There is no one to take our side
We mask our feeelings underneath smiles but our thoughts are miles away
What we think about is too much for our small minds
If only they could understand
They'll probably care about our stand
They can't hear us

The Youths In Limbo
POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem while thinking about the hardships that comes with being an adult. Everyone knows but there is nothing like too much voices on an issue that's yet to be solved. This probably won't solve anything, but as a young adult myself, i feel the need to voice out, using my pen. To all youths that believe i expressed their feelings with my pen, please hang in there. I hope this gives you a little bit of comfort and i hope you find enough strength to overcome the hurdles that comes with being an adult. Believe me, someone here can hear you. Everything will be alright. I love you all.
