Then And Now Poem by Joshua Thomas

Then And Now

Rating: 5.0

Then

I’ve been thinking of a creature lately
Every night in my dreams.
Her figure traces my sight so faintly,
In my mind between the seams.

I can never take my eyes off her.
No other I’ve ever seen.
That could so capture my heart’s favor.
With every word she sings.

I make her laugh and she shines so brightly
Thou sometimes I don’t succeed.
But in her eyes I can see so slightly
That in my dance of love, she’ll always lead

Now

If I could just always hold you;
Always be there in your arms,
Always give you happiness,
Would our love for each other be as strong?

Think of all the people you know.
Maybe you’re just like me.
Am I the only one you think of,
When our lives are miles away?

So next time you lay alone at night
And you’re crying for me longingly
As you read this scrap of paper
Tonight in our dreams we will be…

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Two Poems I wrote in about 10 or 15 minutes during a training mission. Very short, and I had to set some rules to give a little more of a challenge. I wanted to keep them very short and precise (with no dictionary.com necessary) .

Rules for first: 3 stanzas,12 lines, nothing special

Rules for second: Add three “you” and one “our” in each stanza
