There Is Someone Watching Me Poem by Jessica Millsaps

There Is Someone Watching Me

In the midst of night,
When all is dark and silent,
And the world seems at peace,
There is someone watching me

When the sun has set,
And the moon rises high,
And the world is all asleep,
Save for me,
There is someone watching me

I sit and I type,
As the wind blows harshly outside,
The fall leaves blowing with it,
And the stars twinkle for someone special,
There is someone watching me

And as the cats roam,
And the few of us stare up at the moon,
I think back to a time,
When all was good,
And when all was fine,
But now, I know,
There is someone watching me

I flip silently through past times,
Photos, words, memories pour out over me,
And I wish I knew how to deal,
An the world flies by faster than light,
When I wish that all was light and easy once more.
I know it deep down, in my heart of hearts,
There is someone watching me

I smile up at the world around me,
I plaster my face falsely to the those around me,
And I know that the hurt goes so deep,
Yet, my smiles are all they see,
I know there is someone watching me

And even as I realized I am not alone,
Even though in the darkest hour, it feels so,
And I as I see that my love is not in one person,
But instead, with the world
And as I smile, my first real smile in so long,
And as I find myself happy for the first time,
I know it, I know it with all of my heart,
There is someone watching me
