There's More To Life Than This Poem by ART PAUL SCHLOSSER

There's More To Life Than This

There's more to life
Than just struggling to live
You've got to want to help
You've got to want to give
You need a relationship
With Love so you can love
You need to go beyond and above
You need to be the peaceful dove

You say you don't want my God
You say you don't want my church
You say you don't want my Bible
Or the second birth
Well it's better than living
Your life blinded by drugs
You need to clean up the mess
And get out the bugs
Or one day you'll die to soon
From that poisonous jug

I mean the decision is up to you
I can't make you do it
But is that really living
Living only for something you won't quit
Everyday begging
Just for a few dollars
For another drink. Another smoke
Another heroin shower

Some people will sleep
In the garbage can
Before they will wake up
To become a new human
And what often stops
People from changing their life
Is the Drug Dealer friend
Offering then an opium knife
With friends like that
From death you cannot hide
With friends like that
Your committing suicide
