There Were Poem by Ruth L. Rivers

There Were

There were two of us that night…
Then why is me and not you who feels sullied
There were things said in the dark…
That I’d hoped to forget for the rest of my life
There were things done in early hours…
Which were supposed to be the end of in themselves
There were moments new to me…
Which I’d only have retained as ghosts in the past
There were long delays in time…
Which let you move on and for me to not forget
There were decisions we made…
That led me on this path to the point where I am
There were two of us that night…
And now that three of us are having to move on
You’ll never forget.
