These Eyes Of Mine Poem by bob barci

These Eyes Of Mine

It doesn't seem that long ago,
the meeting of our minds.
Me - coming off a railroad track,
and you - right by the door.
And in your eyes I saw a twinkle
with these eyes of mine.
I recall the first few times.
Unsure. Tense. Doubtful.
Could you fill up my empty space?
Time would tell.
Your twinkling eyes told it all.
I just had to wait.
With these eyes of mine
I saw only one.
My empty space was filling up.
My mind was filled
with nothing but you.
I couldn't, and still can't,
picture you with someone else,
unless I'm there too.
Such a shade of green
these eyes of mine!
That's how I knew.
Couldn't wait to get to you.
Hating to leave.
Forever on my mind.
I'll say the words.
Hear them with my ears.
But, when I look into your eyes,
gazing, with all the love I've got,
I want to see your flowing heart,
with these eyes of mine.
