They Poem by Anna Kerubo

They

They have my book of events.
They have my diary.
They write in it.
They write about my life.
They write how it was.
They write how it has been.
They write how it is.
They write how they want it to be.
They write everyday.
Always more than once a day.
They write without fail.
They write and hope I read their diary of me.

They have my list of things done
Things done in the past
Things very shameful
Things I would not do now
Things done when i didn't know better
Things I have moved away from
Things I forgave myself for.
Things I seldom remember.
But they, they remember clearly.
They like to remember.
The list is funny, they say.
And so they read it aloud everyday.

They have my list of things to do too
They list what i should do everyday
They have always listed my things to do
Things, sometimes i don't believe in.
Things I'd rather not.
'But they know better' I have always thought.
And so they list and I do the things.
But today I bought a pen and paper.
Today I will list my things to do.
My list maybe weird to them.
My list is definitely different.
Not what they may wish.
But I will do my own list anyway.
They can keep my diary.
They can write and read the list of things done.
But I alone will list my things to do!
