They Say... Poem by Derry Dose

They Say...

They say we are a waste of space
We are made of fragile clay
We rot in a sea of disgrace
We have no friends along the way

We bring no glory to anyone
We are the prey of every game
We are a spectacle for fun
We ruin every joyful flame

We are the epitome of shame
We have fools in our name
We are nothing but a broken frame
But maybe we are not to blame

Maybe we are honest in our lies
Truth is guilty in our eyes
Happiness is a myth we despise
Sadness is the kiss we prize

Regret is the beauty we adore
Letting go is the pity we abhor
We please each other with words that bore
Let's say it loud, we want no more

We love to lie, that's our creed
We are honest at being dishonest indeed
Let's say it a hundred times, that's our deed
We are honest at being dishonest, that's our seed
