They Were Wrong Poem by Zanny 101

They Were Wrong

They forgot me
They ignored me
They tried to show me
I was wrong

They had shamed me
They had pained me
They had left me on my own

I tried to fight
I tried to stand
I tried to rebel
But I always fell

As I fell
He grabbed my hand
He showed me his smile
And helped me stand

He crossed his heart
He hoped to die
And stuck a needle in his eye

He would not leave
He'd help me fight
And we would shout
To the oncoming fright

But when he left
He stole my heart
He swallowed the key
And it tore me apart

They were right
Yet they were wrong
Even though he is gone
I will stay forever strong
