Thief Poem by wendy rodriguez

Thief

If I were a thief I wouldn’t
steel your money
because that wouldn’t
give us happiness.

Instead I would take your
heart just to get even for when
you took mine away.

Ever sins that day I’ve had my
heart locked away, but yet you
somehow the next time I look into
your eyes you managed for my heart
to escape!

As you made that happen I started to
wonder if you were that one for me.
Once I found out you were nowhere
near me because you had moved away,
I realized that no matter what you’ll always
have a piece of my heart!
