Thief Poem by Dustin Newman

Thief

I was aware of everything. So I thought.
You passed beyond my sight and into my heart.
My guard was dropped but for a moment.
You are gone.
A cunning one.
A key you stole.
My vision now is steadfast. Narrowing on one goal.
To fix the intrusion.
Left but a scar. One that cannot easily be filled.
A scar that everyday widens. The protector, who
Cries everyday. Asking to be returned what was taken
A touch. A kiss. A whisper. Not so easily cast aside.
Another must fix the pain.
Heal the heart that has lost its key.
For the thief shall never return.
