Rain Poem by Dustin Newman

Rain

The rain beats against a window.
Telling me I am drowning.
Speaking to me in a soothing voice.
Memories flood my sight.
Hand meets head as emotions arise.
-Push them down.
-Keep them away.
No.
I can't.
Why this? Why now? Why me?
Where are the answers?
Thoughts explode forth as rain against a window.
Beating me down. Forcing me to my knees.
-Is it too much to bear?
Yes. Right now. Yes.
-Let the feelings go.
-As hard as it may seem.
-Time is the cure. It fixes everything.
I don't want it fixed with time.
It's not my choice though.
-Tommorrow will be better.
Yes.
-Sun will bring clear thoughts and an open mind.
Eyes swell up and tears flow down my face as rain against a window.
