This Alone He Could See Poem by J. D. Martin

This Alone He Could See

Hear me O my Lord
Please come heal my aching cry.
My lips are free from evil
But there is darkness in my eye.

In your presence let me stand
I want vindication in your sight.
You have heard me cry by day
And you’ve come visit me by night.

You have tried my evil heart
And found me wanting on the scale.
You have sentence me to prison
To die forever in this cell.

The light is growing dim
And it’s chaos that only sounds.
My fate is forever grim
To the grave I am forever bound.

But just when the darkness
Would have swallowed up my soul.
The conquer of death
Came in with his holy scroll.

When he looked upon my life
He found nothing good in me.
But a vessel of his grace
This alone he could see.
