You forgot the melody of the crickets lulling you to sleep. I love the country, because of everything you said here and more. I had some of my most happiest times in the country at my grandmother's house. The farm down the hill were frends of ours, and if we helped with the chores, we could take our pick of the field. I had the job of helping wth the milking, and the house chores with the girls. I enjoyed those times so much. I even learned a thing or two about baking pies, biscuits, cakes, donuts, and even making the meals. By the time I was 11 years old, I knew my way around the kitchen very well.
I still love making things from scratch, because they taste a lot better, and don't have all those preservatives in them. I learned how to put up preserves, peaches, strawberries, blackberries, and other things we coud store and use throughout he winter. I loved and learned, and a country girl can survive.
Thank you for sharing Marilyn, this is a really wonderful write of pure living.
Love & hugs,
Barbara
