this heart is built around
string songs of tears and its
occasional joys and endearments
born to ‘boogey' beyond its melancholies
it is ready to stand in for another soul
everyday it is finding home
in kalipso and kaleidoscope
constantly snatching words
and their rhythm from the tongues of passers by
stealing the laughter of lovers to make its own...

this heart here is an instrument
learning the rhythm of the music
yearning to walk anew
to tie the shoelaces of time
to stand in a distance
and look back
to allow itself to stroll
around an entire sea
to make amends
to beat its drum steady...
again
