Dear Dad
This is just to say
That on the day of your funeral
I was too depressed to attend
Because that would be final proof
That you had truly left
For God’s home in the sky
I chose instead to stay away
And instead busied myself,
Tidying your things in your bedroom
As if you were coming home later that day
But despite the black emptiness
That enveloped me
That made me scream and cry out loud
It made me feel much better!
