I’m sorry I can’t do this
I can’t live with you anymore
I cherished and loved you
I gave myself over to you
And you took me and changed me
Into someone I’m not.
Instead of a small part of me changing
Only a small part of me remains
Locked away from the world
It stayed safe from harm
It has survived years of seclusion
Yearning to emerge from this prison
It’s the only part that is me
I am no longer under your control
I’m here, strong and true
Standing my ground
Reclaiming the life
That once was mine
I think and do for myself
I am me again
And I love myself.
