This Is Nigeria Poem by Makinwa Victor

This Is Nigeria

No heroes in the jungle
No laws in the forest
Everyone is struggling to eat from the food of the land
Turn the sanctuary of divination
Into a factory of liquidation
This is the situation of Nigeria
Corruption is the highest order
Stealing is deemed to be right
Out of sight
And definitely out of mind
No wonder our eagles crash at
The sight of the next height
How much a naira cost?
It sure paralyzes my thoughts
Brethren get lost
In search of greener pastures
Who are we to judge?
There's no one with a better judgment
I might vote out of resentment
Like my people in the southwest
Or get slaughtered by herdsmen up north
We are cows following men
Who are lost too
That's just our presidency
In a summary
Our situation is crooked
Not even braces can straighten.
