This Is War Poem by Dashaun Rashod Snipes

This Is War

Rating: 5.0

This is war, between genders and generations
In our communities, divided by expectations
Fighting in our learning institutions
Nurturing hate instead of solutions
We wage wars against race
Ignoring the pain, not seeing the grace
Professions, a battle for power
Leaving lives shattered, hour by hour
Even between religious beliefs
We find reasons to spread grief
Technology, a tool for destruction
Instead of connecting, we cause obstruction
With our minds, we plot and scheme
Blinded by hate, we forget to dream
In demographics, we draw invisible lines
Forgetting that we are all divine
In entertainment, toxicity reigns
Taking it to new levels, causing pains
This is war, a never-ending fight
But it's time to stand up, and do what's right
Let's put an end to these battles
And build bridges instead of walls
For in this war, nobody truly wins
All we have left is broken hearts and sins
Let's come together, as one
And embrace our differences, for we are done
With this constant war, dividing us all
It's time to rise, and answer love's call
For this is war, between the elements too
But it's not too late, to start anew
Let's choose unity, over hate
For only then, can we truly celebrate
This is war, and it's time to end
Let's be the change, and make amends
For a world without love, is no world at all
So let's fight for peace, and stand tall.
