This Macabre Dance Poem by Alyssa Cheek

This Macabre Dance

My brain and heart didn't cause this
My family and friends tried to stop me from this finally kiss

"Take my hand my dear" His boney hands reached out to me
"Take my hand and become free"

With Each step we took, it felt like a new dance
With each step we took, it felt like I was leaving behind my past
With each step we took, it felt like I have taken a final chance

I wish I could say I regret this decision, but I don't hold any remorse
My red sparkly dress was what they saw before my final course

But don't cry, don't cry no more when you start to wonder
Why their baby is gone and six feet under
