‘God at a Funeral'
I saw God at a funeral
he was not dressed for the occasion,
he was giggling at the gathering's tears. All in the rain.
God with his umbrella, I wondered:
‘why is he scared of being wet? '
I was quizzical in my mind. I was gutted, so I pointed him to everyone in tears. I said: ‘he killed her. Yes he did. He's a serial killer' ‘He's here to make fun of us'
I was not having the irony of his presence: Is he here just to giggle and mock us for being fallible?
"You should be ashamed, how dare you even show up here. I was almost gathering a mob for a surge towards him."
"Or do you want us to thank you for this too? Hell no! Run along man! "
And he looked Straight into my eyes,
I was shivering with rage.
Then he said: "bless the day, for you saw the beginning of it".
I still didn't get it. I was fuming!
"What's the point of life just to die? To build hearts just to break them like fragile glasses."
I was still fuming; gutted. Hell bent. Then he patted my shoulder,
He held me calmly and gave me a big chair to sit on while he sat on a stool.
He said: "I know it's confusing to live a life for an assured end"
"In the triangle, your role is human
so it's by nature to ask: ask and ask again! "
"But you are not the life;
you are the essence of living, in itself. Death is life! The beginning of no end".
"You call it harmattan
Some say it's raining.
You call it sunny
Some say they are drenched in cold".
"You call it a bridge
Some see a wall.
You call it a venom
Some take it as an antidote".
"What value is a life;
that can't be mourned? "
"And y'all see me and hide
whilst I am here the whole time.
That's a dramatic irony to the skies.
"Check your palms,
I am there in its questions
I am here; there; yet no where
I am all. Always? You decide
You own your vote! "
