A generous Spring sun warms the garden and soothes my unease
Behind where I'm sitting the sound of the birds fills the trees
Machine-gunning magpies Robins bickering, flitting
Obedient to Nature's imperative, making a living
Each one both hunter and hunted constantly vigilant
And now we humans, preyed upon by the Covidian
Are learning once more what it's like when threat is quotidian
