This Smile Is For You Poem by Paula Lubbe

This Smile Is For You

It possesses my mind by day and night
I don't know why I try to fight
A memory that won't fade away
You stay in my mind by night and day

I embrace this illusion
I live the lie
I'd fake a smile
To the day I die

It's torture seeing you everywhere
This exposed soul; I'm the one to bear
You know everything, but don't know me
I take the punch, I'm forced to bleed

Maybe one day hope would return
Not too late, before I turn to ruin
Before my dreams betray me once again
Before my smile starts to descend
