Thorns Over Roses Poem by Akade Emmanuel I

Thorns Over Roses

Don't bring your sorrow when the dirt is closing in
Don't lay a wreath to prove what you denied within
Don't speak my name when silence seals my tongue
Speak it now, while I'm still young.

Show me your care while my hands still feel
While my senses burn and my heart still beats and bleeds
Let me taste your truth your weight, your flame,
Before I'm only smoke and a fading name.

Bring me your thorn while I can still feel the prick,
Not roses cold on a stone that's stiff and thick.
I'd rather bleed now from your honest hand
Than lie in flowers I can't understand.

Love me loud while I'm still here to hear,
Not in whispers when I've turned to air.
