Those That Must Make Us All Alive And Well Poem by RIC BASTASA

Those That Must Make Us All Alive And Well

i can always go back
and retake what belong to me.
On the other hand
what is it? some lousy papers,
some molds of memories
i suppose those other things
that i want to bring back
are all but dead,
carcasses of some cheap
marsupials,
pouches that contain nothing
but foul
flesh,

and so i have decided to go with you
on this flight
of all the lighter things in my life
those that i have forgiven
those that
i look forward to
a sunlight, a bird song,
a reflection of a beautiful soul
a tranquil lake
a burst of joy
