Days go by
and life never ends.
Our paths diverge,
Through many bends.
But somewhere, sometime
in this lonesome journey
We pick up companions
who make dark days sunny
And in moments of reminiscence
When we close our eyes
We remember their faces
Those were the happy days!
Days of laughter
Days of joy
Such mirth and happiness
of days gone by
I yearn to go back
and to rewind time
and live out once more
those days of my prime
But alas! Time moves forwards
Present becomes past.
But why! Oh! Why? !
Does time move so fast?
Chances you had
and friends you once made
all part of a life
that your memories now bade
until one day,
when you're all alone
by the side of the sea
and you pick a stone
Throw it in and watch
the waves splash and spray
and say to yourself
Those were the happy days!
