Thou Bloom Of Glen Daren Poem by Jonathan Bellmann

Thou Bloom Of Glen Daren

Where are thee now thou bloom of Glen Daren?
Fairest are thou amongst the heather
Against the depth of azure sky compare
And headland shore tumult airs.
Flaxen hair upon thy shoulders lay
Gently with the wind portray
The wonder of thy silhouette
And the beauty of thy eyes display.
Thy voice was soft and gentle;
Thy skin was supple, yet sweetly perfumed;
With passion I held thee, warm against thee,
I kissed thee endlessly.
With love I married the bloom of Glen Daren,
Amongst the heather bright with hue
With favorable winds and God’s blessing for two.
Each day seemed brighter than the last
As the blooming flowers attest; youthful fervor we knew.
Content was I with thee Lass; we played till we laughed.
In the fields I labored plowing dirt and sowing seed
With thee at home, thou preparest food for our table.
Why couldn't my Lassie wait to tell me of the news?
Upon a horse my Lassie sped across the dell
As I watched from afar, then the horse slipped and fell.
Alas, my darling her doest lay within my arms embraced,
Dead as clay.
Why Lord hast Thou taken my beloved from me?
Hide not Thy face O Lord from me;
From sin and death Thou hast freed me;
Safe within Thy arms I recline, and so my Love.
My dearest I give to Thee, till again we with love embrace
Amongst the heather in Heaven's grace.
