Though Oft It’s Hard (2)

Most of our fights are in the dark
With self, the devil’s weed
Yet no ones life would fail the mark
Allowing Christ to lead

Jesus is Saviour of our soul
The Guarding of our heart
He sees how oft we lose control
How much from truth we part

It’s seldom light for self to die
To rid of greed and lust
But when we look to Christ on high
All self just turns to dust

His Spirit sees the heart that’s true
The mind that seeks the Light
The inward drive to start anew
The will for truth to fight

The Lord can hear His children’s cries
He loves a humble mind
He knows who’s lost through Satan’s lies
And who to truth are blind

But when God’s Lamb we come to eat
When Fire runs through our veins
Our every need The Lord will meet
To break our selfish chains

If when these things we understand
If when we seek God’s face
The Lord will stretch His mighty hand
To give eternal grace

Eternal joy, eternal bliss
Eternal life above
Exchanging Satan’s passing kiss
For God’s eternal love…
