Thoughts - Poem by Kristien Blend
The thought of losing you crosses my mind
Jabs its way into my conciousness
Sharp steel points drawing blood
adhering the thought to my mind
A panic rises in my throat
a scream claws its way up
but I choke it back down
If I let you go
Would you come back?
Or would you fly so far
and so high that it would be
the end of us?
My heart knows the answer
and tells me to let you go
so you can know it too
But my soul screams 'NO'
It laces itself so tightly
into yours that I
can't free it without wounding
both of us and drawing blood
What do I do?
Which struggle do I choose?
How can I even begin to let you go?
