Thoughts Poem by Nancy Mangos

Thoughts

Rating: 5.0

Slipping down her finger tip
Landing through her eyes
Rippling across her troubled thoughts
Asking her why

Why are your eyes clouded
So unlike the used to be
Where did you get these scars
To whom you bequeathed you beauty
When was your array torn up
So discourteously exposed
With whom you made such feud
Your children heartlessly killed
How you came to be a lifeless mess
Stifled by un-expellable grey
What stole your dazzling blue
That used to bath my day

Gliding beneath her troubled thoughts
Searching my response
Dwelling as the silent mother
Feeling that special bond

Look from an altitude
Stand beside yourself
Listen as the sinners speak
Voices you know too well
Sniff at the metallic scent
Encapsulating every dew
Catch those drops of spring
Their sweetness vanished too
Feel the emptiness echoing
Amidst the clear-cut corpses
Nothing overly exaggerated
The reality is worse

Merging from her lamenting rage
Gasping through her whisks of thoughts
Disheartened, though not surprised
That it’s me – I’m the cause

My apology is genuine
Sweet mother of all
As for your selfless kindness
Set off your fall

Weaving through your tapestry
Blessing it with harmony
Marveling at your magnificent work
When you laid eyes upon me
That tiny little creature
Unprotected from your world
Wondering across your tapestry
Mystified by what it beholds
Seeing it so vulnerable
You softened with sympathy
The unfitting piece on your magic
You couldn’t just let it be

Indulging your immeasurable love
Though your instincts opposed
You chose to follow your heart
When your ration said no
You touched its mind using intelligence
With dignity you tinted its soul
You gifted its heart of confidence
Now a new era unfolds

Waving your wand of evolution
You smiled gleefully
It flourished with amazing skills
But then
Nightmares invaded your dreams

Too late
I realized you mistakes
Too cruelly
You stole my smile
Too harsh
How reality struck
Too betrayed
To blame anyone but myself

Your dignity became
Patronizing
Your confidence turned to
Uncontrollable greed¬¬
How blind was my
Unconditional trust
While your intelligence plotted
Unspeakable schemes

As the wounded voice fades
Her sight slips away too
When the bold melts apart
My world comes to view

It will end soon, mother
Your grieve will not last
Please have faith in me
Keep your last will to trust
I will sew you a new robe
Delicate as it used to be
I can cure your misty eyes
To welcome the twinkle of your dream
I will fend your children
Stand to their defense
I can re-embellish your grace
If you bestow me the chance

Hear my prayers, mother
These are my promises to keep
Await for that day, mother
Our dream
Is to become
Reality
