Thoughts From The Road Poem by Scott Bales

Thoughts From The Road

“thoughts from the road “
“by myself, I silently drive “
“although there is noise ‘
“ the radio blares “
“yet, there is silence “
“the motor hums @ 75 MPH “
“ yet, there is silence “
“ the traffic racing along with me ”
“yes, yet again, there is silence “
“ my mind is focused just enough”
“ to know what’s going on “
“outside my dream world “
“DAMN, the phone rings “
“momentarily & cruelly “
“ tearing me viciously away “
“ from my dream world “
“ my safe place “
“ thankfully done “
“ back to where I want to be “
“ in my safe place, my dream world “
“ barely noticing the blur of endless road “
“glistening in my trance induced eyes ‘
“ as I dream a wonderful dream “
“ is it a dream if you are awake? ”
“ I guess it really doesn’t matter! “
“what matters, what’s of the utmost importance “
“ is that thought, that dream “
“ the thought & lovely dream “
“ of seeing you after all this time “
“ the thought & dream to feel your touch “
“ to feel your warm embrace “
“ perhaps the gentle caress “
“ of a tender kiss “‘
“ but the ultimate of it all “
“ will be my initial & long awaited look“
“ at something so ravishing “
“ that I have not seen, in what seems like an eternity”
“ because it has been an eternity “
“ it’s something that I never thought “
“ I would ever see again “
“ your beautiful face “
“as the waves of emotion crash thru me “
“ as I wonderfully take it all in “
“ this long awaited moment “
“ yet again, there is silence “
“ except for the joyous beat of my heart “
