Thoughts Of You Poem by Sarah Holmes

Thoughts Of You

I shouldn’t be thinking,
Of someone else instead.
But for some reason,
You’re stuck in my head.

I can’t still like you,
Not after all the time.
So why am I reminiscing
Of when you were mine.

We were good together,
So everyone would say.
I guess they didn’t see me,
Giving you away.

You’ve moved on from us.
And so have I,
But something still hurts,
Which makes me want to cry.

No going back,
We agreed that was right,
So why am I hoping,
For just one more night.

We’re friends now,
Closer then before.
Our past is over.
We’ve closed that door.

I will get over this,
My thoughts won’t last
I just need to leave us,
Buried in our past.
