Through A Purple Cloud The Sun Shines

By FAN Dacheng Translated by East Sea Fairy

Through a floating sheet of purple cloud,
the Sun brilliantly shines on the ground flattened.
With such a splendid scene stunningly aloud
on such a warm day brightened,
I'm more than happy to keep my light leather coat unbuttoned.
The warm weather makes me heavy-eyed.
The enchanting scent of the blooms makes me gladdened.
Holding my head in my hand at midday, I happily died,
died in dead dreaming, myself with a liquor beside.

The vernal sluggishness I know
is like the still and stagnant water in a spring lake.
a rippling is just like the spring woe
that makes my heart ache.
A real sluggish style of flow the blue water does take.
Softly and weakly the air from the east side
attempts to up it wake,
but it purely puts down every tide
as soon as it tends to ride.
