Through Him - Poem by Brian Potthast

When I find myself in the dark
Lost and hopeless, I have the mark
Of he who hunts the lost soul
To take them down is his goal
Finding the light across my feet
Tired and weary I am beat
Fighting against the evil one
With his help, I have won.

Thinking of you, I know my place
How lost I’d be without your grace
But you know because you see
Good things done. You smile on me.
Bless me with strength, love, and care.
But please allow me to be aware
Of those lurking in the silence
And never veer me from your guidance
For it’s what leads me on and on
Towards my goal I’ll reach it anon.

Once I’m in that holy place
Surrounded by that grace
That never left me in hard times
Brought forth by the sublimes
Keeping me from despair
Then forgave me when in err
Still allowing me to go
In search of my home
That place with you where I’m bound
Every day that heavenly sound
When your courts of angels roar
And nothing's as it was before
