I'm assuming the WE of this poem are those ghosts who haunt the remote monastery at night. But early in the morning the monks will begin a day of periodic prayer and they will have no choice but to hide until sleep and darkness give them free rein again. And I'm happy for them! These are not the ghosts who would intentionally scare or harm a human - they probably would welcome the human presence in their revels, you know - the more, the merrie! r
