Thump Poem by Josephine Lauderdale

Thump

That music comes on
You can't finish your thought
Because you turned it up
Too loud
The right thump for your heart
Just upsetting enough
To be interesting
Compelling
That note
That note
That begs to be silenced
Yet sings to your soul
And makes you afraid
Of where it might take you
Lost in a note's embrace
You take a chance
It rises up
Like an angry wave
To the point of tears
Trapped in a bottle
With no expiration date

Play it again
