Tiktok Ruins Us Poem by Rob Rizzler

Tiktok Ruins Us

Under the glow of phones and light,
A dream world, but not quite right.
TikTok is fast, it's humorous, it's loud,
A passing laugh, and then it's gone poof, like a cloud.
Hours go by fast, minutes fly,
Videos roll on in a never-ending strip.
A laugh, a cry, a fad so cool,
But what do we lose? It's kinda cruel.
Our brains get tired, thoughts are muddled,
Concentration's lost, everything's unfocused.
We're stuck in a rut, it's hard to think,
Like floating on water that's not a sink.
Comparing ourselves, dark and sad,
Makes us bad, like we're not glad.
Everyone's perfect, their lives so great,
Makes us feel small, like we're second-rate.
Creativity once wild and free,
Now it's all about trends, not me.
It's hard to try, it's hard to keep up,
Sometimes I just want to say, 'Why? '
We lose sleep, we waste our time
Swiping at the same thing, no rhyme or reason.
It's a loop that never ends,
The cost of scrolling? It's a total flop.
But still we swiped, we lingered,
Chasing the next thing, come what may.
But stop, think, and try to see—
What is lost in the digital sea.
Life is more than screens and noise,
More than what the internet's exposed.
Break free, reclaim the time you've lost,
Before the real world pays the cost.
