Time Is Short Poem by Peter Swan

Time Is Short

Time is short and we are ancient
Timid fires silently eat away our imaginations
We are all slaves now.....

Take me to the river as a sinner
Watch the blood drip ever slowly
Into the meaningless flow..........

the colours dissipating...

This space around me is frightening

God is a tree -- a silent hymn -- an insane expression

The majesty of this vast universe
The loneliness of our species
an ever shrinking planet

I forget places exist where people don’t go
Im suffocated by the media
I fetch my papers and believe wars live next door

maybe i should live with others -- hug people -- drink less
Drive less, cycle more
Listen to the sound of breath -- my fragility often ignored
I’ll live forever --
watch the stars become dimmer, the universe become slimmer

Yes, definitely hug people, drink less, cycle more. None of us will live forever... until we die first.
