To A Poet Poem by BASAB CHAUDHURI

To A Poet

Wisdom made me understand
That every wonderland
Withers away,
Every beauty is transitory.
The question is how long
One can appreciate beauty -
Of the daisies and the daffodils,
The forest and the mountains.
It's time, the duration
Through which beauty makes impression
In the mindscape,
Then fades away
Slowly into oblibion -
That matters, that varies.
A poet permanently lost in painting -
Not to come back to the world again,
Misunderstood by all,
Yet full of joy and joy,
Looking inward
Into the eternity
Where light stands still
Waves finally become stagnant,
All the light of the world
Becomes a lovely painting
To a poet.
