To Back A Dark Horse Poem by O. A.

To Back A Dark Horse

To Back a Dark Horse

Viva la soul

To back a dark horse
In a race around the bowels of Hell
With bloodhounds, gargoyles, and goblins
Takes guts, patience and a nose for the peculiar...
For any horse that races demons,
And not the likes of heavenly creatures
Like Pegasus, or any other legends,
Is a dark horse worth investing in...
For in a race where a soul or two
Is at stake,
And where there can be mistakes made
A betting man or woman will see
The tracks of its bloody tears
As it turns its pistons over and over
Like a well calibrated engine
Blazing in the night
With a halo of fire around its mane:
As it runs from its shadows
As it runs from its fears
As it shakes off demons
Trying to attack its name
Trying to attack its character
Trying to kill its chances
Of finding daylight of a better day
To cross that finish line
In this demonic race...

And if I was that dark horse
Would you bet on me in my life
Would you bet on me here and now?
Would you double down
On me putting up a good fight
To find the light?
