To Be Brave Poem by Niamh Gold

To be brave is not to fierce,
Confident or strong.
You needn't have saved a life,
Nor brandished a sword,
To be seen as courageous as you are.
You don't have to fight in a war,
Nor perform on a stage.
Lead a rebellion,
Or free the slaves.
There is something far more simple,
That makes you the bravest of them all.
A sacrifice for those you love,
However big or small.
If you've put away a dream,
Or changed your plans,
All for that special one.
Then,
You are truly brave,
Bravest of the lot.
