To Be Lonely Poem by Barkin Barker

To Be Lonely

Rating: 4.5

There they stand
hugging
whispering
making promises
of love.
For an instant they forget
it won't last.

You swore you loved me
you swore
I would be yours
forever.

In front of me
sitting
at the park
autumn leaves
on the bench
and old lady
her blank gaze
empty.
She knows
how it is
like
to be lonely.
