Is it right to split that idiom

Of a verb in the ‘infinitive'?
William Shakespeare chose to-boldly-be
Existentially alive and wrote ‘Hamlet'.

Do it dramatically
Or even grammatically,
As allowed by modern English usage;

Even Nobel laureate Winston Churchill,
Scorned the critic of his ending
A sentence with a preposition.

With commonsense contumely
He replied, "This is the nonsense
Up with which I shall not put."
