To Death Poem by Biswarup Das

To Death

Death, O Death,
why won't you come

to one
who calls you ardently?

A voice
lost, unheard,

a shadow
warded off from everywhere.

The world
has turned its back,

yet you, too,
turn away.

What stays
when silence — even silence

seals
its tongue?
