To Each Her Own Poem by Hailey Agnew

To Each Her Own

When I say he’s so cute,
I mean so much more than that.
When I look in his eyes,
I’m seeing so much more than you.
When he tells me a secret,
I listen and never tell anyone.
When he’s with me,
I have so much fun.
When you look at him,
You see what everyone else sees.
The boy,
Not the man he is.
They say,
To each her own.
Well to me he is mine,
But I share him with everyone.
And they say,
at our age,
Love plus lust,
Equals love lost.
And for all that I’ve been through,
I know that’s true.
So strip away vanity,
Just as you consume me.
Broken smile,
Starless sky.
Save it all,
Say goodbye.
