To Life As We Know It Poem by Nick Veran

To Life As We Know It

With pain a cloak
Soaked in silence
A hopeful wonder
Of a time less violent
A cast of
Men
Women
And everything in-between
Those Vile
Those Wretched
Those Beautiful
Those lovely

The curtain coming to a close
Death's arm's welcoming souls The thought's you had
The thought's you couldn't have
It makes you think
Makes you wonder

How long you'll last
In Flame
In Stone
And Ash

To the orchestra that is life
The symphony of misery
It's serenade to suffering
To this I remember
The Vile who betrayed me
Then Wretched who hate me
Even more I reminisce
The Lovely life behind me
And dream of beautiful possibility

Although I love to spite
This
And I dare say
Truly is life
