To Little Friends Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

To Little Friends

A call
Out of love
And affection
Bestowing
To the youth
Youthful
My friends
Untainted
Honest
Original ones
Thus-
You’re to be pure
And sincere
To the cause
Yourself and all
Aware of your
Rights and duties
Lest you should
Be taken in by
Into the designs
Recruiting
Signed up by
Myopic statesmen
And judiciousness
Of crooked times.

Alert!
You’re to be
Virtuous in deeds
Kind
And thoughtful
Towards
The humanity
Concentrating
On universal
Brotherhood
Becoming
Helpful
To one and all
By sharing
The sufferings
Of mankind.

You know!
It’s the need
Of the hour
It so demands
As of you
To be reliable
So that
Successors
May feel
Proud of you
Positively-
That you’re
Intending to be.

You know!
You’re both
The present
And the future
Of this beautiful
Planet called
The Earth
Shunning
Fantasy of
Fundamentalism
In every sphere
The way of life.

Listen!
Friends listen!
Hear the call!
Take your charge
Promising
To materialize
And visualize
The great dream
Joining
Hands in hands
As one world-team.
